What is EN81-28 Healthcheck?

It is a requirement that all passenger lifts are fitted with lift alarm autodiallers to allow trapped passengers to call for help. EN 81-28 requires that an autodialler health check is carried out by the lift owner/lift contractor every 3 days to provide information that the autodialler device and communication path are fully functional.

Although many autodialler systems automatically check the phone line, they most often utilise software that works ONLY with their own autodialler. This requires that software needs to be installed onto a dedicated computer which, in a lift portfolio with several makes of autodialler, can result in several different software packages, one for each different lift autodialler manufacture, cluttering the system.
