Need to replace a motor encoder, do I need to carry out a rotational auto-tune?

February 21st, 2023 / Updated: March 28th, 2023
  1.  If replacing a Motor Encoder on a Permanent Magnet Machine (i.e Endat Encoder) we would recommend a rotational autotune is carried out. However, a Static tune can also be carried out, but it is advisable to do it 3 consecutive times. Making sure the learnt Phase Angle C.13 on each attempt come backs with a value less a couple degrees deviation.
  2. When replacing an Incremental Encoder on an Induction Motor a Static Auto-Tune would in most cases be enough. Please refer to job contract manual for relevant auto-tune procedure.
