Important News from Thames Valley Controls

September 24th, 2019 / Updated: March 24th, 2021

We are pleased to announce that Thames Valley Controls Ltd (TVC) has been acquired by Vantage Elevator Solutions of the US effective from close of business on 30th September 2019. Vantage is owned by Golden Gate Capital, a $15bn private equity firm. One of the companies owned by Vantage Elevators Solutions that you will be familiar with is GAL Manufacturing.

GAL Manufacturing, founded in 1927, is a highly-respected global supplier of lift fixtures, controllers and door equipment. Through Vantage they are associate companies of GAL Canada, Hollister-Whitney, Courion, Bore-max and Elevator Controls. Vantage shares a proud tradition of operating lift specialist businesses with a focus on technology and outstanding customer service. The acquisition of TVC will boost the Vantage group’s specialist lift controller and monitoring knowledge as well as providing geographic growth and will open up fantastic new worldwide opportunities for TVC’s market-leading products.

The Vantage vision fits well with our own and I quote “Vantage is a philosophy focused on customer care. We are creating a customer-centric mind-set, where we’re committed to delivering best-in-class value at every level. Our story is only just beginning, and we’re excited about sharing it with the elevator community.”

GAL has long been a trusted trading partner of Dewhurst PLC (our previous owner), which will significantly ease the transition process. We will be working with Dewhurst and GAL to complete the transition process over the next few months and know we can count on our tremendous staff to continue to support our customers through the process. This acquisition will maximise the many benefits of both companies and deliver on-going success and the growth of TVC. Having said that, for the time-being it will be ‘business as usual’; we will carry on as a stand-alone business (with Richard Young as Managing Director and Eamonn Reid as Sales Director) doing what we do at present.

This is a very exciting prospect and opportunity for TVC. We will be able to build on our mission of developing technology and processes and to give us the competitive advantage enabling us to continue to prove excellent service to the UK market.

If you have any specific questions or concerns please contact your TVC representative; they will be delighted to help.
